Hi, my name is Acaa Sabina and I am 62 years old. I am a widow and a mother to four children plus two dependents. Two of my children go to school. I live in my own grass thatched house in a place called Koro Village which is about 6 kms from the town of Gulu.
I sell local alcohol and supplement it with farming and I have been in business for two years.
I learned about Kleos Uganda from a friend who is now a long time member of Kleos Uganda. I joined a group called “YeleKeni”(meaning Struggle on Your Own) and because I got involved in Kleos Uganda, the activities in my life and that of my children, have greatly improved. I used to operate with a capital of 100,000 SHS ($36 CAD) before joining Kleos Uganda but now I have about 400,000 SHS ($143 CAD) as my operating capital.
The last loan I took was for 300,000 SHS and I used part of this money to pay the school fees for my children.
My future plan is to buy cows, goats and chicken. The cows will provide milk for home consumption as well as for sale to supplement my income. I would love to see Kleos Uganda increase its budget for the scholarship programs for the children because it is helping them to change their lives and build for a future.
