Hi, my name is Ajok Florence. I am 44 years old, a widow and mother to seven children plus two dependents. Five of my children go to school. I live in a rented single room house in a place called Industrial Area near Gulu town.
For the last 10 years, I have been selling porridge and I move it from place to place. I learned about Kleos Uganda when I saw the posted sign and I made the d ecision to go to the office and find out more about their services. I joined a group called “AtekkiRwot” (meaning With The Lord I Am Strong).
Since getting involved in Kleos Uganda, activities in my life and that of my children have greatly improved. I was never able to get loans because of the unfair loan terms and conditions. I used to operate with a capital of 200,000 shillings, but now I have about 1,000,000 shillings as my operating capital.
The last loan I took was for 400,000 shillings. I used part of this money to pay school fees for my children and the balance was invested back into my business.
My future plan is to acquire a piece of land to build a grass thatched house for my children so that I can stop renting and I can also use part of the land for farming.
